Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
