Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous changes reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.
The adventure concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
